Hospitality Management Diploma (Optional: with Co-op)

The Hospitality Management Diploma program provides an introduction into the hospitality industry. The program contains eight approved AHLEI (American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute) courses that are designed to provide students with an understanding of entry level positions. After completing each course, students will receive an AHLEI certificate which is recognized in 54 countries around the world. Students will also gain certificates in, Serving it Right, Food Safe, and WHMIS, allowing them to work in the hospitality industry in Canada.

This program has a Co-op option. Students will be exposed to one co-op placement where they will complete an assigned report to successfully graduate the Hospitality Management Diploma with Co-op.

Upon completion, students will gain knowledge through these eight courses:

  • The Lodging and Food Service Industry
  • Managing Front Office Operations
  • Managing Service in Front and Beverage Operations
  • Hospitality Sales and Marketing
  • Managing Housekeeping Operations
Admission Requirements:
  • 1) All applicants should be high school graduates or 18 years or older at the start of the applicant’s program or course.
  • 2) Applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language skills. The minimum level of English is IELTS 5 for the program, or equivalent.

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.

Esthetics Diploma (Optional: with Co-op)

The program will allow students to gain the theoretical knowledge and practice area skills to become competent Esthetic professionals. Graduates could work in a spa, health center, cruise ships and private practice.

The Esthetics program includes 960 hours of in-class education (theory and practice areas) which is covered in 48 weeks. The program consists of six courses. Each course is 8 weeks/ 20 hrs week/ 160 hours.  Each course consists of learning theory and a practice area skill relevant to esthetics.

This program has a Co-op option. Students will be exposed to one co-op placement where they will complete an assigned report to successfully graduate the Esthetics Diploma with Co-op.

Programs are open to students who meet the program admission requirements. The admission requirements include:

  • If under the age of 19, a parent or legal guardian must sign the contract. Language proficiency requirements are admission requirements.
  • Instruction at Royal Metro College is conducted in English. Students need to demonstrate that prior to enrolment they have the language abilities if applicable to successfully complete the program of their choice.
  • Admission requirement may not be waived by students or the institution.
  • 19 years of age. Language requirement:  Evidence of IELTS 5 (or equivalent); alternatively student has studied at a regular school where English is the language of instruction (min grade 10); alternatively the student can pass the school’s ESL placement assessment which could include an interview.

Nail Technology Certificate

Nail technology refers to the techniques, tools, and other products used to treat and take care of nails, while also making them look aesthetically pleasing. This field involves cosmetic beauty treatments for fingernails, hands, toenails, and feet.

The program will allow students to gain the theoretical knowledge and practice area skills to provide nail technology services.

The program consists of one course. The modules contained in the course consist of learning theory and practice area skills relevant to nails. The course includes 108 hours of in-class education (theory and practice areas) which is covered in 12 weeks.

One Course:  “Nail Technology” (four modules)

 12 weeks 108 hrs
Module 1: Orientation 6 Hours
Module 2: General Sciences 15 Hours
Module 3: Nail Care 81 Hours
Module 4: Business Skills 6 Hours

 

Total instructional hours:  108 hours.

Admission Requirements:
  • High School Graduation or equivalent; or 19 years of age.
  • Language requirement: Evidence of IELTS 4 (or equivalent); alternatively the student has studied at a regular school where English is the language of instruction (min grade 9); alternatively the student can pass the College’s ESL placement assessment which could include an interview.

Eyelash Extensions (Three Levels)

The Eyelash Extensions consists of three programs: Classic Eyelash Extensions, Eyelash Extensions Advanced and Eyelash Extensions Expert. Each program offers 9 hours theory and 8 hours practice in eyelash extension.

Admission Requirements:
  • All applicants should be high school graduates or 18 years or older at the start of the applicant’s program or course.

This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. As such, PTIB did not review this program.

English Studies and IELTS Training

The English Studies and IELTS training consists of three programs: Foundation English, English Upgrading and IELTS Test Preparation. Each program has a duration of 240 hours covered in 12 weeks.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language skills. The minimum level of English for the program is
  • IELTS 2.0-3.0 or equivalent – Foundation English
  • IELTS 4.0-5.0 or equivalent – English Upgrading

Students who enroll in a language program which is six months or less in duration or for which tuition is less than $4,000 may not make a claim against the Student Tuition Protection Fund, which is managed by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. Further, this language program may not have been reviewed or approved by PTIB.
